When visiting Burning Man last year and being overwhelmed by the experience, I felt I should create something really special for next year's festival. Upon returning to Amsterdam I showed Dok, my partner in artistic crime, the hundreds of photographs I took during my stay. His first reaction after browsing through them was: "When do WE go?". At that moment I realized there was no way back.

Next step was trying to find a project to work on. What was better to do, than dive into my sketchbook, I had within close reach all the time whilst in the desert, and browse through all the images I sketched during my stay? In there I found a few sketches of boats; a boat in the desert, that sounds logical….

I imagined a voyage undertaken in a time long, long ago in a place far away, a journey which for some reason came to a sudden end. And now all those (light) years later the boat is still stranded in what seems to have turned into a desert, leaving all the spectators encountering the boat with their questions; Where did it come from? Is it an ark waiting for its crew to leave for the next destiny? Is it the boat flying through the clouds granting wishes and desires to all on board? Is it the famous boat of yesteryears returning to a new dawning? Will they dare to climb aboard and search the horizon with their telescope for the silver lining?
